John Wimber's movement, the Vineyard, has seemingly struggled with it's identity for decades. At one point, in the early 1990's, Wimber gave a list of ten things he looked for in a Vineyard church...
I think that the best description of the Vineyard and John's ministry can be summed up in these words: "The presence is the power." That is what differentiates Vineyard from mainline evangelicalism, Pentecostalism, NAR, etc.
Nicely written. There is so much to consider as to what a Vineyard church is. The list of ten things DOES lend a big hand to defining what. Vineyard church is. While reading this I couldn't help thinking that perhaps another defining characteristic is that we cannot simply define. Why do we need to define? Surely the Holy Spirit defines and shifts who we are? I think the 10 characteristics give enough definition.
I am glad to be part of the Vineyard since 2005 in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchug.
