Pastoring can be challenging and while there are some bad church leaders out there, I know a great deal who are serious about loving and serving people. Here's what I find more challenging...

Wow...such a blessing to have your mom - your actual Mom - praying for you! You are beyond blessed my friend. Great article btw, yes...the weight of those expectations is heavy - and led me a decade ago to nearly throw in the pastoral towel after 35 years in and out of the pastoral role. It was so bad at one point - and I don't care who knows this now - I had to take anti-anxiety meds - church planting and moving a facility and church 3 times in 11 years will do it to you - but what's even worse is when those "well intentioned dragons" (Marshall Shelley's classic about ministering to problem people in the local church) conclude that you had to leave a building because the Holy Spirit abandoned you! Yes...I heard that from people and saw people leave over that.
